Dear people, this video is very important to me because I no longer want racism and xenophobia to go uncommented. I want future generations to have it better.
I ask you to watch it until the end and tell me what you think.
As I had to realize, many people still don’t know what the scandal about the WDR broadcast #dieletzteinstanz is about.
By popular demand, we’ve worked it up for you and summarized the whole catastrophe.
It is unacceptable that WDR is now using the same tactics as the racists: first provoke something, then row back.
The protagonists knew exactly what they were saying. No one can tell me that in 2021 they still showed so little sensitivity and didn’t know what they were doing. Now that the shit has been blown up, they want to distance themselves and try to “make everything better”. You don’t believe that yourselves.
It gives the impression that they want to sit out the scandal around #dieletzteinstanz. But there can and must be no more of this. Attitude must be shown. There must be consequences. This show and the statements in it were too violent for that.
This is not about the talk show guests, it is about structures that have no place on public television. WDR can’t cave in to the right-wing mob because of the environmental sow story, but in the case of the current scandal, say sorry with a quick tweet on Twitter and get away with it. We decent people have to set the tone for the discourse, not the right-wing indignados.
It must stop that people with a migration background have to continue to fight for their equal rights, both in the media and in society. The specious statements of the WDR leave one speechless.
I ask you to set an example, to stand up and show that migrants are not second-class citizens.
Please let us pull together for a Germany that protects the rights of all citizens equally. What happened at WDR is emblematic of the times in which we live.
I would like the ÖRR to show its stance and to strengthen the journalists and employees who do neutral and excellent work there every day. Otherwise, trust will not be restored, at least not in my case.
Migrants are part of this society, please perceive them as such. People of other skin color have been degraded long enough, this has to stop.
If anyone believes that this will stop soon, I am sorry to disappoint you.
As long as WDR does not make a statement, I will not give up. Tom Buhrow must be judged by his completely exaggerated reaction after the “environmental sow scandal”.
We migrants do not accept to be fobbed off with a tweet after kneeling before right-wing radicals and conservative politicians.
So Mr. Buhrow, you will not be able to sit this one out. Neither will the editors of this unspeakable program, who could have commented so far, but prefer to remain silent. Editorial offices decide on questions and topics. The trailer of the program alone shows that all this was not unintentional.
Virtually every person in this country has commented on it. Two talk show guests apologized:
Kunze drew a heart on Instagram, Beisenherz tweeted sorry.
Gottschalk should be banned from television in my opinion.
Moreover, apologizing for something two months later under pressure from the public also shows that it wasn’t done without pressure, ergo: Actually, everything is paletti, what happened there.
Motsi Mabuse has not slept for three days, as she said very emotionally on Instagram. This woman should have been in the round. Even the ex-Bachelor Sebastian Pannek has taken a clearer and more confident stand than any single guest in the round.
Who continues to remain silent? The people in charge at WDR.
Except for the head of entertainment with some generally valid statements that she copied from her phrase book for unpleasant situations. She called the show “unsuccessful.” The criticism was “absolutely justified” and she could “very well understand” it.
What kind of boss is Karin Kuhn if she only notices this a few months later on such a sensitive topic, after it has been brought to her attention with a crowbar.
And why did the show suddenly fail? The show was a repeat! Why do you repeat unsuccessful programs?
Before the shitstorm, the show was not considered a failure. If it could have understood it, then it would have stopped the transmission before. Period.
And apart from that: What does a program about racism have to do with entertainment? Questions upon questions.
Want some answers too?
Thanks for your solidarity. I have received thousands of messages in the last few days that give a lot of courage and hope.
Outrage alone is not enough, we must act.
